This World Cup has already seen some frenzied scenes, but there will be no bigger match for India's billion-plus population and the 48,000 at the Sardar Patel Stadium to sink their teeth into than India v Australia.
Remarkably, Australia’s defeat against Pakistan in the final group match was their first in 35 World Cup games stretching back to 1999. But it looked to be more than a mere aberration.
Their captain, Ricky Ponting, is reported to be facing the axe at the end of the tournament, and his tetchy behaviour over the last month shows that he is feeling the pressure.
So can India overturn their patchy form in the group stages? Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side should be well versed in dealing with the hopes of India's adoring fans.
